US of A

Soooo, flew into LA from Hawaii and stayed a night downtown which was probably one night too long, then relocated over to a hostel in Santa Monica which was much nicer. Did all the sightseeing things in LA - Hollywood, Sunset Strip, Getty Museum, Disneyland. Photos below...

This is a cute photo of elmo and cookie monster yelling at the kids father cause he didn't give them a tip in exchange for the photo he took of them.

This was my lunch at disneyland, i think it was a hotdog.

After LA I boarded the greyhound to Vegas where i caught up with Matt from uni, pretty crazy place, full of people and pokie machines. Not really much to do other than gamble. Few cool rides around the place though, one which swings you out over the edge of this building.

Also got to see Paris and catch a roller coaster through New York while i was there...

Caught the greyhound again to get to Flagstaff which is near the Grand Canyon. People had been telling us how dodgy the greyhound buses were and that they always break down etc. Also that whenever someone gets out out of jail they get a free pass on the greyhound to get to anywhere in the states. Until a few hours into our journey the bus started overheating and so the bus driver -not wanting to be stuck in the middle of the desert with a bus full of possible criminals- decided to drive all the way back to where we started from and swap buses. We eventually made it to Flagstaff which was the perfect place to be after a few days in Las Vegas. It was a small country town straight out of the movies, very laid back and a great hostel too.

Went on a day trip to Sedona on Sunday lots of amazing scenery then to Grand Canyon on Monday which was unbelieveable -

Then bused it to Phoenix stayed a night there and flew into New York.
So much going on in this town, i don't think you could ever get bored.
Highlights were probably the Museum of Modern Art, every thing from Van Gogh to Warhols.
Hanging out in Greenwich Village.
The church in Harlem which was amazing, with a full black gospel choir and pipe organ and lots of amen's and hallelujah's,
A night at Cafe Wha' which was an old Hendrix and Dylan hang out.
and the rock and roll karaoke night where a live band backed the almost professional singers, featuring lots of ACDC and Iron Maiden.

This was a walk sign someone had altered out the front of the old underground rock venue club CBGB - thought it was quite appropriate.

So that pretty much sums up my US leg of the trip. I'm now in London where the weather has been beautiful, sunny and 30 degrees for the last few days. Staying and my brothers house and searching day in day out for a job and a warm bed so i can stay here a bit longer.

Hi Cam. Great photos. Especially New York through your head, Elmo & Cookie Monster & lunch at Disneyland. I'll have to put you in charge of my itinerary next time I travel.

Hope you find a warm bed in London before the "heat wave" passes. It's certainly hard to find anything warm in Ballarat at the moment.
