Ol London Town

So... I think i'm kinda getting the hang of this blogging thing, 4 posts in as many months. yes i know, it's been a while but the long awaited UK update is finally here...
After the holidaying in the US of A Matt and I flew out of New York and arriving in London in the early hours of Monday morning and proceeded to navigate the tube to meet up with Jason at his work, got the key to his place and crashed there for the next few days. Spent the first few days getting used to London, seeing the sites and sussing out the areas where would be nice to live. Decided that around Shoreditch area would be a good place to settle into it's quite the creative area lots of design studios around etc.

So after a bit of house searching Matt and I moved into the lovely Hector House and shared a flat with two russian girls, a french girl and a swedish guy. We were also neighbours to two lovely swedish girls with a major thing for the 1950's. So were kindly awoken on random mornings to knocking on the window & Frida and Rita dressed in paisley dresses and with freshly brewed coffee for Matt and I, their favourite golden oldies playing on the stereo in the background. This was in Bethnal Green which is quite close to the trendy/grungy areas of brick lane and old street etc. Lots of cool vintage stores and bookstores to keep me interested...

Made the most of the summer days while they were around, so there's was a few picnicing in the park weekends with some of the old uni crew. Also went on a day trip down to Brighton with Jas, Matt and Yana which you can see some photos of below.

Just recently I got some freelance work for a surf magazine in Newquay on the southwest coast, so spent some time down there for 2 weeks. Was quite a fun place, and the ripcurl boardmasters was on whilst i was there so got to enjoy that as well. Was good to see the beach again and go for a surf, also got free tickets to the music festival that was on during the weekend which was good. The whole place reminded me a lot of Torquay and it was very refreshing to get out of the city for a bit.
On the work front i've been doing some freelance design for a few fashion companies to keep the money coming in. Also currently doing some work at a place called Suck Uk which I got onto through a girl i met in New York who deals with them. It's kind of a boutique industrial design agency doing a bit of packaging work for them.

After getting back from Newquay and Matt hearing how nice it was he decided to move down there. So I started to look for a new place to live and have just moved into a nice house just off Hackney Road which is close to work and Old Street etc is just around the corner. So just taking it easy at the moment, trying to save up some money and settle in a bit. There's a trip to Sweden on the cards to catch up with Frida etc, also hoping to get to Dublin with the Uni crew soon. Had my birthday the other day so caught up with Jason and went to see a show called Avenue Q, was quite funny, main kinda like a rude version of the muppet show so here's a photo from that night and also a photo of a boat for Dad, this is the canal I walk along to get to work...

So that's all for now, hope your all doing well and stay tuned for my next posting next year sometime probably... :)
